Will Midjourney AI Kill Photography?

While Midjourney is a pretty cool AI tool that generates some really striking images, I’m not as convinced as many others seem to be about the threat it poses to traditional photography.

Here are 3 reasons why I don’t think Midjourney is going to kill photography, or even pose any real threat to photography… Ever.

Creativity and Originality

While AI and machine learning algorithms are able to analyze vast amounts of data and recognize patterns, they are limited in their ability to create something truly unique and original. Human photographers bring creativity and artistic vision to their work, which is difficult to replicate through automated processes.

Part of what makes a great photo a great photo is the fact that you’re impressed that someone was able to actually capture that photo. Maybe it was a striking vista that required a dangerous hike, or a photo that plays with light in a way you’ve never seen before, or one that portrays something from every day life in a creative way… Humans are capable of this, AI doesn’t seem to be.

Emotional Intelligence

Photography is not just about capturing an image but also about capturing emotions and telling a story. Human photographers have emotional intelligence and can establish…
